The Department of Fashion Design of Asia University, in cooperation with the National Taiwan Center for Technology Research and Development, recently invited Shen Congyue, the founder of the "Wiggy Gold Workshop", a heavyweight teacher in the industry and academia, to hold a three-day "Metalwork Jewelry Design Workshop", with the concept of inheriting the spirit of craftsmanship, integrating skills, media, culture and fashion from "doing middle school, learning in the middle", encouraging students to inject a lively new atmosphere, refine the craft connotation and experience the craft aesthetics.
On the first day of the workshop, Mr. Shen introduced the production of the three ring rings, explaining that metalworkers can start from basic skills such as sawing, filing, welding, grinding, etc. Students who already have a foundation in metalworking can discuss advanced design with the teacher, extend on the basis of the curriculum, and learn higher-level techniques, all of which can get more skills in this workshop. The seemingly simple three-ring ring, which includes techniques such as filing, annealing, bending, shaping, and welding, requires fine techniques to make the work perfect.
In the second part of the course, Metalworking Leaves, students each exert their creativity and make different types of leaves, including insect moths, autumn curly leaves, ferns, young leaves, etc. Each work is unique and eye-catching. Even beginners can make a very complete composition.
The third part - the method of the pin, different from the general single point welding, this method of making the pin durable and beautiful, requiring superb welding skills. The last item of the course is to make a forging bracelet, which is a very classic and elegant style by hammering the metal surface to create texture, control the angle to change the outer contour, and create a bracelet with natural smooth lines and special texture.
Lin Qingmei, deputy dean of the School of Creative Design and head of the Fashion Department, said that the three-day goldwork jewelry design workshop handled by the Fashion Department allowed everyone to understand the practical process of beauty, train students to recognize metalworking design methods, inspire creativity and use techniques to actually complete the work. Let the students understand the original cold and hard metal, can create a soft appearance line, and soft luster and touch, as well as the craftsman's hand-crafted works, although time-consuming and time-consuming, but full of emotion and temperature, which is incomparable to the machine production, ingenuity and craftsmanship.
